Koru Essential Oils Organic Bay/Laurel Leaf
Notes From The Koru Oils Lab™ -
Koru's Bay/Laurel Leaf, also know as Bay Laurel, Bay Leaf, and Sweet Bay is an intensely fragrant sweet and spicy oil. This warming oil has a long history in Greek mythology. It's been said that Bay would aid the gift of divination and the ability to read oracles. Some have placed Bay Leaves underneath their pillows to help foresee the future in dreams. A garland of Bay Leaves is used to crown the heads of heroes even today, pay attention next time you watch the Olympic Games, those are Bay Leaf crowns being placed on the heads of the athletes. Romans believed Bay Leaf would ward off both evil as well as infections disease, perhaps this is why still today in parts of Europe, Bay Leaf garlands are hung on doors and Bay trees still grow close to entrances of homes and businesses. In Elizabethan times Bay Leaves were even used in the kitchen to keep weevils out of the grain and flour and is still recommended as a deterrent.1 Do not confuse Koru's Bay/Laurel (Laurus nobilis) with California Bay Laurel (Umbellularia californica) also known as the "headache tree" because the inhalation of California Bay Laurel vapors can cause migraine-like crises.2
